New York New York has one of the best lunch deals I ever came across. For $15, we get a choice of soup , drink and main course from the ala-carte menu. Normally this would have cost at least $$27. The food was delicious, the soups were rich and the portions given were not 'downsized' just because this was a lunch deal. Yum yum! I must go back again!
Drinks - cranberry juice, pink guava juice
Soup - hot salsa and mushroom cappuccino
Beef stew beneath the mash potato
Teriyaki hawaiian chicken chop
On Saturday, we got up early to try the briyani at the Indian coffeeshop at Wishart Road. Their business is really good, the briyani is sold out by 1pm. For $5 per person, the briyani comes nicely presented on a banana leaf with papadum by the side and a rich curry. However my fried fish was rather salty while hubby's mutton was tough. The briyani was good though.
After an early lunch, we went orchard and walked around, ending up at Shimbashi Soba (Orchard Paragon) for the tea-time special - $6 for dessert + drink. Another good deal, the dessert alone cost $8 - $9 , while the coffee was the freshly brewed kind. The matcha tiramisu I ordered wasnt what I expected though. Tasted abit cheesy and not much of green tea flavour.
Overall, we spent about $25 for good briyani, good dessert and good coffee.
Other nice stuff that are not that ex:
Pork katsu curry udon at Liang Court basement stall. Nice curry, freshly fried cutlet.. $10 . But small pc of cutlet though.
From the shop specialising in chee cheong fun along Kiliney road:
meatball porridge (ok)
fried intestines (yum yum!)
you tiao wrapped in chee cheong fun (yum!)
Forgot the prices.. probably about $4.50 for porridge, $6 for fried intestines and $3.50 for chee cheong fun
